Privacy policy
Who we are
Wagwalk is an Android app that helps independent dog walkers keep track of walks, clients and invoices. In this policy, “Wagwalk”, “we” and “us” mean the people who make the app, and “you” means the person using it.
What we store, and what we can see
- Your email address. It’s used to sign in and to send you codes to confirm your email or reset your password. We can see it.
- Your business data. That’s your clients (names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, notes), dogs, walks, invoices, photos and settings. It’s encrypted on your phone with AES-256 before it’s uploaded, using a key that only your password, your passkeys or your recovery key can unlock. We store only the encrypted copy and can’t read it.
- Your password. It never leaves your phone. The phone turns it into a separate sign-in secret, and only that secret is sent to us.
- Account records. These are the dates your account and records were created or changed, which we need to keep your phones in sync. We also keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for security and troubleshooting. They’re deleted on our hosting provider’s normal schedule.
What stays on your phone
- Contacts. Wagwalk reads your contacts only when you tap “Import from contacts” and choose someone. Only that person’s details are copied in. Your address book is never uploaded.
- Text messages. When you send an invoice, Wagwalk opens your own messaging app with the message ready. Wagwalk doesn’t send or read texts.
- Notifications. The walk timer and the evening reminder are produced on your phone.
Ways back into your account
- Passkeys. If you add one, it’s kept by your password manager (such as Google Password Manager). We store only an encrypted copy of your data key that the passkey can unlock, never the passkey itself or your fingerprint or face.
- Google account backup. If your phone has a screen lock, the recovery key is saved to your Google account with Android Block Store, end-to-end encrypted by Google with your screen lock. Wagwalk can’t read it. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Backup recovery key. It’s shown when you sign up, as a spare. You decide where to keep it, and we never see it.
Who helps us run Wagwalk
We use a small number of service providers, and only to run the app:
- Supabase: accounts and encrypted data storage.
- Our email provider: delivers sign-up and password-reset codes to your email address.
- Vercel: hosts this website.
- Google: provides the Android backup and passkey features you choose to use, under Google’s own privacy policy.
We don’t use advertising or analytics services. We don’t sell, rent or share your data for marketing. We only disclose what we hold if the law requires it, and since your business data is encrypted, that would be the encrypted copy and your email address.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays until you delete it. Settings → Delete account permanently removes your account, your encrypted data and your photos from our servers, and removes the Google backup copy from that phone. Signing out removes Wagwalk’s data from that phone; your account stays.
You can also email us and ask us to delete your account. To protect you, we’ll ask you to confirm from the email address on the account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or to object to how it’s used. Most of this you can do in the app itself. For anything else, contact us and we’ll answer within 30 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS and end-to-end with AES-256-GCM. On your phone it’s stored in files protected by an Android Keystore key. Database rules make sure each account can reach only its own rows. No system is perfect, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your recovery key safe.
Children
Wagwalk is a business tool and isn’t meant for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also say so in the app.
